Descripción
5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde is used as an intermediate of OMBF (5,5'-oxydimethylenebis(2- furfural)), crown ethers. It is used in organic synthesis to prepare dialdehydes, glycols, ethers, amino alcohols and acetals. It acts as an antioxidant found in some fruit juices and caramel products.

AplicacionesEl 5-hidroximetil-2-furaldehído se utiliza como intermediario de OMBF (5,5′-oxidimetilenbis(2-furfural)), éteres de corona. Se utiliza en síntesis orgánica para preparar dialdehídos, glicoles, éteres, aminoalcoholes y acetales. Actúa como antioxidante en algunos zumos de frutas y productos de caramelo.
Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, alcohol, acetato de etilo, acetona, dimetilformamida, benceno, éter y cloroformo.
Notas
Sensible al aire y a la luz. Mantenga el recipiente cerrado herméticamente. Incompatible con bases fuertes, agentes oxidantes fuertes y agentes reductores fuertes.
