Descripción
Diphenyl ether is widely used as a heat transfer agent and a dye carrier. It is employed as a processing aid in the production of polyesters. It acts as a chemical intermediate in the production of surface active agents and high temperature lubricants, fire retardants like polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and fragrance for detergents. It plays a vital role in the Ferrario reaction to produce phenoxathiin, which finds application in polyamide and polyimide production.

AplicacionesEl éter de difenilo se utiliza ampliamente como agente de transferencia de calor y como portador de colorantes. Se emplea como ayuda a la transformación en la producción de poliésteres. Actúa como un intermediario químico en la producción de agentes activos de superficie y lubricantes de alta temperatura, retardantes del fuego, como los éteres de difenilo polibromados (PBDE), y fragancias para detergentes. Solubilidad
Soluble en alcohol, cloroformo, acetato de etilo, benceno, éter dietílico y ácido acético glacial. Insoluble en agua.
