Detects gram-negative bacterial endotoxin in human and animal parenteral drugs, biological products and medical devices. Lonza™ Kinetic-QCL™ Chromogenic LAL Assay Kit is a quantitative, end-product endotoxin test used with a microplate reader and detection software.

This test utilizes a preparation of Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL), in combination with an 96-well microplate, an absorbance plate reader and appropriate software (such as WinKQCL™) to detect endotoxin photometrically. In the presence of endotoxin, the lysate will begin to cleave the chromogenic substrate, causing the solution to become yellow. The time required for the change is inversely proportional to the amount of endotoxin present.

  • The chromogenic nature of the assay makes it the most appropriate choice for testing small volume parenterals, vaccines, antibiotics and biologicals
  • It is less impacted by inhibitory products that may interfere with the clotting mechanism in turbidimetric and gel clot assays
  • With a sensitivity range of 0.005–50.0 EU/ml, it is the most sensitive of the LAL assays
  • Not intended for detection of endotoxin in clinical samples or as an aid in the diagnosis of human disease
