AplicacionesEl metanol es útil en la síntesis de ácidos nucleicos y péptidos. Se utiliza como anticongelante, disolvente, combustible y como desnaturalizador para el etanol. También se utiliza para producir biodiesel. Se usa para la síntesis de formaldehído y ácido acético. También es útil para fabricar productos químicos, eliminar el agua de combustibles de automoción y aviación, como disolvente para pinturas y plásticos y como ingrediente en una amplia variedad de productos. Desempeña un papel importante en la medición del contenido de ésteres metílicos de la pectina. Además, se utiliza ampliamente como disolvente en química orgánica sintética.
Solubilidad
Miscible con agua y la mayoría de los disolventes orgánicos, como acetato de etilo, tolueno, diclorometano, cloroformo, tetrahidrofurano y acetona.
