Description
Ninhydrin is used for the determination of amino groups in amino acids, peptides and proteins. It finds application in forensic science for the analysis of latent fingerprints on porous surfaces such as paper. It is also used in thin layer chromatography (TLC) to monitor the progress of chemical reactions. In Kaiser test, it plays an important role to monitor the deprotection in solid phase peptide synthesis.

AplicacionesLa ninhidrina se utiliza para la determinación de grupos aminos en aminoácidos, péptidos y proteínas. También se usa en ciencia forense para el análisis de huellas dactilares latentes en superficies porosas como el papel y en cromatografía de capa fina (TLC) para controlar el progreso de las reacciones químicas. En la prueba Kaiser, desempeña un papel importante para monitorear la desprotección en la síntesis de péptidos en fase sólida.
Solubilidad
Soluble en agua, acetona, etanol y metanol. Insoluble en cloroformo y éter.
Notas
Sensible a la luz. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes, amina, álcalis y bases fuertes.
