Descripción
Tetramethylammonium hydroxide pentahydrate is used in analytical chemistry as an ion pairing agent and a polarographic reagent. It finds application in gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), capillary isotachophoresis and capillary zone electrophoresis and liquid chromatography. Furthermore, it is utilized in the preparation of iron oxide nanoparticles which are useful as magnetic resonance imaging contrast agents and tetramethylammonium dithiocarboxylates. It acts as a developer or an etchant in semiconductor and photoelectric industries.

AplicacionesEl hidróxido de tetrametilamonio pentahidratado se utiliza en la química analítica como agente de emparejamiento de iones y reactivo polarográfico. Se aplica en cromatografía de gases/espectrometría de masas (GC/MS), isotacoforesis capilar y electroforesis capilar de zona y cromatografía líquida. Además, se utiliza en la preparación de nanopartículas de óxido de hierro que son útiles como agentes de contraste por resonancia magnética y ditiocarboxilatos tetrametilamonio. Actúa como desarrollador o como grabador en las industrias fotoeléctricas y de semiconductores.
Solubilidad
Soluble en agua y metanol.
Notas
Sensible al aire. Higroscópico. Mantenga el recipiente bien cerrado en un lugar seco y bien ventilado. Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes y ácidos fuertes.
