Descripción
N,N-Dimethylaniline acts as a precursor to triarylmethane dyes such as crystal violet and malachite green. It is also used in the synthesis of vanillin, methyl violet, and Michler's ketone. Further, it is used as a hardener for plastic resins and an acid scavenger in the manufacture of semisynthetic penicillins and cephalosporins. In addition to this, it is used as a promoter in the curing of polyester and vinyl ester resins.

AplicacionesLa N,N-dimetilanilina actúa como precursor de los tintes de triarilmetano, como el cristal violeta y el verde malaquita. También se utiliza en la síntesis de vanilina, violeta de metilo y cetona de Michler.′ Además, se usa como endurecedor de resinas plásticas y como eliminador de ácidos en la fabricación de penicilinas y cefalosporinas semisintéticas. Asimismo, se utiliza como promotor en el curado de resinas de poliéster y éster de vinilo.
Solubilidad
Miscible con agua, etanol, éter, acetona, cloroformo, benceno y alcalino.
Notas
Incompatible con agentes oxidantes fuertes, ácidos fuertes, cloruros ácidos, anhídridos ácidos, cloroformatos y halógenos.
